2017 Jeep Cherokee

There are two available engines. Each front-wheel-drive model comes standard with the 2.4-liter Tigershark MultiAir 2 engine, which is combined with a nine-speed automatic transmission. It provides 184 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque. <p></p> The 3.2-liter Pentastar V6 engine is standard for the Overland four-wheel-drive model and optional for all models; it provides an astounding 271 horsepower and 239 pound-feet of torque. When properly equipped, it can tow up to 4,500 pounds.

The Cherokee handles smoothly, thanks to the frequency-sensitive damping shocks that absorb hard bumps and potholes on the road. The Trailhawk model is perfect for off-roading; it's built with the Active Drive Lock four-wheel-drive system, which includes a customizable traction control system for rock, snow, and sand/mud terrain. <p></p> The Trailhawk has an estimated EPA of 19 mpg for the city and 25 mpg for the highway, while the other four-wheel-drive models provide 21 mpg for the city and 28 mpg for the highway. The front-wheel-drive models provide an estimated EPA of 21 mpg for the city and 30 mpg for the highway.

All models include integrated Voice Command with Bluetooth and a choice of a 5-inch or 8.4-inch touchscreen. The convenient in-seat cushion storage is available for all trim levels except for Sport and Overland. Optional technology features include a wireless charging pad and a 5-year subscription to SiriusXM Traffic Service. <p></p> Interior color options include Black, Black/Light Brown, and Indigo Blue/Brown. Orange interior accents are available exclusively for the 75th Anniversary Edition model.

The 2017 Cherokee offers an impressive number of safety and security features; altogether, there are more than 70 of them. All models come standard with features such as Hill Start Assist, Electronic Roll Mitigation, all-speed traction control, and the Enhanced Accident Response System. This last feature is especially helpful, as it automatically unlocks the doors and turns on the hazard lights if you ever get in an accident. <p></p> Optional features include blind spot detection, the Rear Park Assist System, and Lane Departure Warning. <p></p>
