35073009621_65529c7305_nSpring is here, and you can enjoy beautiful flowers, flea markets, and a wide variety of fun festivals and events. There’s something for everyone in New York City. Here are some must-visit springtime events.

1. The Orchid Show

The New York Botanical Garden’s Orchid Show displays thousands of species of beautiful orchids, and it lasts from Feb. 18 to April 9 in the Enid A. Haupt Observatory. Visitors can check out a traditional Thai pavilion with hundreds of plants and buy an orchid for their home. Tickets are $20, and on some nights, you can enjoy cocktails, live music, film screenings, and Thai dance performances.

2. Whisky Live

At this international festival, you can taste 300 kinds of Scotch, bourbon, and whiskey from around the world. There’s also live music and a full dinner buffet. Whisky Live is from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., tickets are $139, and guests get a souvenir Glencairn tasting glass. For a $199 VIP ticket, you can get access to the VIP Experience Area, early entry to the sampling, and a cut crystal tasting glass.

3. Holi Hai

Holi Hai is the Indian Festival of Colors, and it celebrates spring, friendship, and equality. The festival is at The Ball Fields at Governors Island on May 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It includes dance performances, interactive workshops, live Indian dhol drums, lots of food, and a kids’ activity area. Admission is free, and you should wear white clothes that can be colored. At Holi, people throw colored powders at each other that represent happiness, love, and freedom. You can buy environmentally friendly colors at the event, but other colors are not allowed.

4. The Tribeca Film Festival

The Tribeca Film Festival is the largest film festival in New York. You can see narrative, documentary, and short films at theaters across the city from April 15 to 26. Tickets are from $12 for matinees to $40 for some Tribeca Talks series.

Evening and weekend screenings are $21, and Pamela Romanowsky’s crime thriller, “The Adderall Diaries,” premieres this year. It stars James Franco, Ed Harris, and Amber Heard. “Drunk Stoned Brilliant Dead: The Story of the National Lampoon,” is about the humor magazine; “Fastball” is about the science of the pitch; and “Tom Swift and His Electric Rifle” is about the use of Tasers by more than 17,000 police departments in the United States.
